Quick Tutorial

to Add 123 Web Messenger to Your Website

This is only a brief tutorial on inserting 123 Web Messenger (123WM) into your website. (As to the advanced setting, please refer to Manual.pdf.)

Note: 123 Web Messenger can not be added to your site unless there is already a user management system on your website
to authorize users' name and password.

There are altogether three steps to achieve the goal,
step 1) Install the 123WM server;
step 2) Move the client folder to the proper location on the web server;
Step 3) Insert the code to the webpages to initial and receive the invitation.

Step 1) Install the 123 Web Messenger server, and then start the server.

For Linux users

Please SSH or telnet to your server, and run the following commands:

1) Download 123webmessenger demo version:

$ wget http://www.123flashchat.com/download/123webmessenger.tar.gz

2) Unzip the installation package and enter the server path:

$ tar zxf 123webmessenger.tar.gz

3) Start 123 Web Messenger server:

$./wmserver.sh start

For Windows users

Firstly log on to the Windows system and download the free trial version of 123 Web Messenger:

http://www.123flashchat.com/download/123webmessenger.exe

After the download, double click “123webmessenger.exe” to run it.

Usually it takes only two minutes to finish installation. 123 Web Messenger Server will then automatically start as NT Service.

Other system users

please refer to Manual.pdf for further instructions.

Step 2) Move the “client” folder to a web server.

After step 1), you will get a <123WebMessenger> directory on the server, including "client", "doc", "server" folders. Among them, "client" should be moved to the web server while "server" folder must stick to where it was. DO NOT copy the "server" folder to the web server too, you must protect the content from being downloaded by chat users, which is very insecure.

A web server is automatically built into 123webmessenger after the initial installation for testing purpose, but we strongly recommend a professional web server like Apache, IIS, etc. to integrate the web messenger client when you will launch the web messenger officially.

To integrate the web messenger client to a web server rather than to the built-in web server, please:

Copy the "client" folder to web server.

Copy the "client" folder to the web directory (like "htdocs", "html", "www", etc.) of your web server.

Sample: copy the client folder from 123flashchatserver to Apache server :

Step 3) Insert the HTML code to webpages.

Note: Code1 and Code2 are necessary in all web pages of your site, whether those to initiate the invitation or to receive the invitation.
So insert them into an overall page of your website, like header.php or foolter.php, etc.
Code3 is only needed in the webpage which contains the “invite” button, such as profile page or search results page, or online user list page.

CODE1:

Embed the following codes between the HTML tag and or between and .

CODE2:

Embed the following codes between the HTML tag and
and the code1 section code must be embeded firstly.

Note : You should replace the #jspath# with the root URL of the 123 web messenger client.

For example:

Note: As 123WM can not be added to your website unless there is already a user system on your site,
code 1 and code 2 can not function well either unless user has logged into your website and their username and password (optional) can be obtained with an application.

CODE3: (Invite user code)

Note : You should replace the user name with the real name which is invited.

Code3 can't function well without code1 and code2, so just like the previous two codes, your users must have already logged into your system.

For example:

Done! After the three steps above, you've installed and run 123 Web Messenger successfully on your site,
now your users can one to one chat with each other, without bothering to register or login again.
