Hi:
I have been using this chat since version 1.2, and it gets better with each release. I have some suggestion now that I plan to use it also at my university (will purchase another license)... VIDEO MODULE: 1- I would like to be able to set Video On/Off for each room. Thus, the video - chat can be enable in some rooms and in other turned off. 2- Capability to allow video-chat use for registered users only but not to guests... This might be avalaible now with the API released in 6.2, but I a not sure... MOODLE Module... Well, to make the chat available to the large Moodle Community, we need that module. This makes sense since Moodle usage at Universities is increasing steadly... Those young universitaries could even be interested in the 123 Flash Chat for their own web sites... Having the Video Chat capabilites have strong appeal for Distance Learning and Mentoring... Video Chat price is too high for education, one suggestion set an 'academic price' structure for Universities, K12, and Colleges. Daniel, focus on this I we talk in two years... I forecast, 123 Flash Chat gaining solid penetration at the Education Market. This will bring a 'collateral' effect in Commercial settings since those students will know the platform when graduating... This is pure marketing sense, no fee for the advise Daniel...! jeje Later Prof. E. Rivera webmaster www.politicaboricua.com |

>1- I would like to be able to set Video On/Off for each room. Thus, the video - chat can be enable in some rooms and in other turned off.
It's an vailable function, in default.xml, find: <flashcom-audio-video targetURI="rtmp:/123flashchat" audio="Off" video="Off" needRequest="On" adminNeedRequest="Off" canShutOffAdmin="On" moderatorNeedRequest="Off" canShutOffModerator="On" maxWindow="5" activeRooms="*" allowGuest="On" /> The parameter activeRooms="*" is to configure in which rooms the video function is available, example: activeRooms="1,2,3" > 2- Capability to allow video-chat use for registered users only but not to guests... This might be avalaible now with the API released in 6.2, but I a not sure... Another available function. in default.xml, find: <flashcom-audio-video targetURI="rtmp:/123flashchat" audio="Off" video="Off" needRequest="On" adminNeedRequest="Off" canShutOffAdmin="On" moderatorNeedRequest="Off" canShutOffModerator="On" maxWindow="5" activeRooms="*" allowGuest="On" /> find: allowGuest="On" change it to: allowGuest="Off" > 3 -MOODLE Module... Not quite sure about the moodule module, please be more specific. > 'academic price' for video capacity Well that's a good suggestion, we'll discuss the possibilities and let you know later. Thank you for writing us! |

Hi Joy:
Thanks a lot for the information and the answers. Moodle is a Learning Platform. It is like a Portal but have education - related capabilities like gradebook, quizes and the like. Some stats available here: http://moodle.org/stats/ 50,000 downloads per month is pretty impressive. Check it out and you will see the potential and the opportunity your Excellent Chat software could have as a Distance Learning tool. I mean the Chat plus the AV module, seems perfect as a moodle module for things as mentoring, etc. Special academic price will be needed, I think. Another fact moodle.org is ranked 7,567 by Alexa. I know Alexa ranks have some flaws, but that rank is also indicative of the activity and usage the Moodle platform have. Google PR for moodle.org is 8/10 also another measure of site popularity. Think about it, take care! ![]() p.d. I am a marketing professor, no relation with moodle.org. |
