Default Source Code. . .

Greetings,

When i purchased a 50 user licence from 123flashchat, i came across this page http://www.123flashchat.com/design-faq.html#e6 which says
Quote:
6. Can I have my own avatars or smileys/emotions?

Yes, you can purchase the flash source code (which is only $70 for license buyer, or $139 for not buyer yet) to replace the original avatars and emotions by your own.
ctrl+L to activate the flash library, find folder "avatars_mc", then replace with your own.
Then edit "grid.as" to change the width and height, and rows and columns of avatars.

The avatar graphics are supposed be in 20x20 (or 16x16)pixels, gif or png format (with transparent background).
You may have 50 avatars, the number of avatars can also be a product of row ( <= 8 )and column( <= 10 ),like (8 x 10= 80), or (5 x 6 = 30).

Now, after done all this, why avatars don't show up?
one thing very important, you gotta right click on the avatar movie clip in your library and select "linkage":
"export for actionscript" should be selected as should "Export in first frame", and keep the identifier the default name.

Or, if you need us to replace for you, please send us the group of avatars, we'll update for you in 24 hours after your payment of customization fee.
we charge one hour of extra developing fee ($50) for replacement of every group of avatar files.

The same manner apply to smileys/emotions replacement,
ctrl+L to activate the flash library, find folder "smileys", then replace with your own.
and edit "smiley.as" to change the number, size and names of smileys.

Now, after done all this, why smileys don't show up?
one thing very important, you gotta right click on the smiley movie clip in your library and select "linkage":
"export for actionscript" should be selected as should "Export in first frame", and keep the identifier the default name.

Another point is, in current version, the smiley mc should be named in format "***_smiley", otherwise they may not show.

We charge one hour of extra developing fee ($50) for replacement of every 12 smileys. 24 smileys replacement costs $100.
Now i'm being told (by "ben" the helper) that i'm not allowed to buy the source code. Is false advertising?

The only reason i bought the licence was because i knew i can customize the emoticons and avatars myself without having to pay extra.

Can i get a refund since i was given false information? I easily meet the requirements set out here http://law.enotes.com/wests-law-ency...se-advertising

regards

Sorry sir it's not false adverts, it's just conflict of the old and new policy.
In your case, you can surely purchase the source code to change the flash client, since you're not going to develop a competing chat software with us in the chat market and you're going to launch it only on your site.
by the way, thank you for reporting, we'll change our site content accordingly.

Is there any possibility of purchasing the source code any more? I'd be happy to sign a non-compete agreement stating I would not release any software competing with (or based on, even) any source code you sold me.

I'm not a user yet, but if I'm able to purchase the source code for a reasonable price, I'm ready to order 123 Flash Chat Server plus a couple of the addons, maybe more. The only thing I want to do with the source code is change my emoticons, and maybe remove the avatar images.

If I am able to purchase the source code, what software is recommended to edit / compile it with?
