Default Moderated-Chat Module of 123 Flash Chat

Introduction of Moderated-Chat

The distinguishing feature of a Moderated-Chat( moderation chat or moderate chat) is that question submitted by participants can't go public unless the Moderator or Admin approved/passed it.

The Moderated-Chat is just a plug-in module based on 123 flash chat server software, which can only work together with 123flashchat instead of being used alone.

Benefit of Moderated-Chat

Moderated-Chat help you drive traffic to your site while controlling the topics of conversation, it's perfect solution for following events:

Celebrity chat for singer or movie star, or interviews.
Educational uses: lecture or seminar.
Other scheduled chat events.
User Level of Moderated-Chat
There are four kinds of users in a Moderated-Chat room:

Admin (red) - screens question+ Designate Moderator and Speaker, of all rooms.
Moderator/ room owner (green) - moderates chat by screening question in current room.
Speaker (orange) - answers question.
User (blue) - read question and answer.
By default, user types are distinguished by name color, showing below:

Among them: a) and b), similarity and difference:

in a Moderated-Chat, both Admin and Moderator have the privilege to screen messages, approve message by "passing it" or drop it by not "passing it".
But Admin can moderate every room, while Moderator can only moderate current room which he's assigned to.
Both Moderator and Admin can kick user,
while Admin can ban username/ IP address, or unban them in Admin Panel.
a) Admin:

Admin is responsible for designating the Moderator and Speaker in Admin Panel-> Room Panel, also for placing the room into moderated mode, surely Admin can screen messages as well.

b) Moderator:

Questions posed by ordinary users are automatically sent to the Moderator and Admin in current room for review, answering, deleting or forwarding on to the Speaker.

c) Speaker:

A guest Speaker can answer questions forwarded by Moderator.
Speaker can also be left blank, which means there's no Speaker in a room, instead, Moderator or Admin might answer questions.
(Only registered user can be Speaker, if Admin designated a guest to be Speaker, the guest can't have the privilege of being a Speaker.)

Speaker's rights:

Every word of the Speaker can go directly into the chat lobby.
Word of participants can't be delivered to the Speaker unless Admin or Moderator passed it. Speakers won't be bombed with inappropriate messages.
Ordinary users can't activate private chat with Speaker, only Admin and Moderator can.
Ordinary users can't ignore either Speaker, Moderator or Admin.

Communication Model of Moderated-Chat
Once Moderated-Chat is activated in a room, everybody in current room will be notified: "Moderator activated Moderated-Chat function." After that, new comer will be informed too: "This's a Moderated-Chat, your message won't appear in the chat window until the Moderator pass it."

Ordinary users may no longer submit message directly to the chat lobby. Below each message of ordinary user, there appears a checkbox unchecked:" pass this message".
The Admin or the Moderator then filters the questions, selecting those most relevant to the chat, clicking the checkbox and forwards them to the guest Speaker as well as everybody in current room.

Showing below:

Speaker answer messages being forwarded to him/them in chat lobby, everybody can read it.

Below diagram shows how it works of the whole process:

All rooms are set to "pass all messages" as default, means Moderate-chat is turned off at the beginning. To enable Moderated-Chat for one room, please uncheck " pass all message" in destinated room as Moderator like this:

Once the management decides to turn off Moderated-Chat mode, just check "Pass All Messages" and everybody in current room will get a message: "Moderator diabled Moderated-Chat function, you can free chat now."

Admin can configure Moderated-Chat room setting in Admin Panel-> Room Panel, like this:

Large-scale moderated events may require multiple Moderators, as well as multiple Speakers, Admin can define multiple Moderators and multiple Speakers, delimited by",".
