Default Question about Application Development

Hello,

I'm looking to purchase swfkit pro however i need to get some answers before i make the purchase.

I need to develop an application which will be used to retrieve some data values from a mySQL server and use those values to display a graphical representation of the data (charts etc) This application will do this at set intervals, say twice a day. Its needs to be able to:

1) Authenticate users (verify username and password by doing a comparison with values in a database online)
2) display charts based on data values retrieved from a databse on a server (mysql)
3) have the option of a trial membership
4) has to be "installed" not distributed as a simple exectuable file but as an installed app

Please let me know if this can be accomplished using both flash mx 2004 and swf pro.

Thanks

Thank you.

1. Yes, this can be done by swfkit pro
2. What type of charts do you want to display? And how will you draw the charts, using Flash apis to draw directly in the flash movie or using an activex control? All these can be done by swfkit pro but we need to know your detailed requirements to find a easier way.
3. What does "trial membership" mean?
4. Yes, this can be done by swfkit pro.

I will be using flash to draw the graphs.. I'm able to do that in flash itself, i dont think it should be a problem when it runs as an application. By trial membership, i mean the option to have the users download and try it out for 30 days before they purchase it. However my question is simply:
How do I connect to a mysql database on a webserver and retrieve the data?

Also, Is there a featuer in swfKit for displaying a splash screen before the actual application shows up?

SWFKit uses ADO to access databases such as mySql server, MS sql server, ms access, oracle, etc.

There is an article about how to access a MySql server in asp
http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/ASP/U...abase-Via-ASP/

Working with ado in swfkit and in asp are very alike.

There are some other useful links
http://www.swfkit.com/forum/thread_1_489.html
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/MySQL_Connectors.html

SWFkit not only supports splash windows, but also supports multiple forms.
