Default PERMISSIONS in UpdateMaker?

We're running UpdateMaker, but after the update, the files seem to have NOT been written.

TWO QUESTIONS...

1. Does UM correctly report an error if the files canot be written?
2. Does UM assume that I've already raised my security standing on the system?

Yes, it will report an error and the upgrade will fail if the destination files cannot be written. UM does not know your security settings. You must ensure that the user of the program that calls UM can write the files of the program, that is why UM must first close the main program before it installs upgrade files, some files may be locked by the main program.

In this case, does "report an error" mean that the application will receive an error code back from the DLL call?

Or does it mean that the user will see a dialog?

Thanks

Steve

Yes, it will display a message box and the upgrade installer will exit.
