I've been using UpdateMaker and AutoUpdate.dll to create a web update mechanism for my application(s).
When I run my updater process on Windows XP it all works fine. The ini file is detected, updates are downloaded and the then installed once the application is closed. In Windows 7 and Vista the process appears to work, but the third step - installation of the updates doesn't happen. If instead I run the updater as "Administrator" then it all works. So it seems the User Account Control mechanism of Vista/Win7 is preventing this third step - the installation of the updated files. So is there any way I can get around this? Or is there a way to detect whether the application is running in adminstrator mode eg DLL calls? Thanks |
