FlashPlayer.getVariable and AS3

hi
i use AS3 and FlashPlayer.getVariable but it dosen't work

in AS2 :
trace(FlashPlayer.getVariable("_root.strA")); work but in AS3 trace(FlashPlayer.getVariable("_root.strA")); dosen't work and
i test

_root.strA
root.strA
strA
stage.strA
MovieClip(root).strA
and they didn't work !

please help me ... .
