Communicate with Director

I need to have a Director 8.5.1 app communicate with a Flash 5 app. The Flash app is running in Director as one of its sprites.

Will SWFKit help?

I need to be able to run functions in the Flash application. Using Flash MX and Director MX, I can access the function by:

sprite(1).movieClip.function()

but since this won't work in Flash 5/Dir 8.5.1 and it's a requirement I can't change, could SWFKit help in any way?

oh man, you are telling something like this, i wanna connect my panda antivirus with the norton one to get improved security.

i think the only way you can do it is stabilishing a socket connection between both, or using flashcom but that both applications can share a native connection ?
