Installing Mac OSX on iMac

For the love of God, I cannot figure out why the MacOSX install cd is not booting! I have an iMac, slot-loading, 9.2.2 system.

I tried holding down the "c" button during restart, I've tried everything short of burning sage. Oddly, the second Install cd reads fine yet is worthless in terms of downloading OSX.

Can someone assist me? I've been searching for over an hour on the net for guidance but no luck.
